The short version: PATAAN processes your screenshots and library entirely on your device. Your screenshots never leave your phone or iPad except through your own private iCloud account. The one thing we collect is anonymous, privacy-preserving usage analytics (via TelemetryDeck) to understand how the app is used, never your screenshots and never anything tied to your identity. We run no servers of our own and hold no account of yours.
Who we are
PATAAN is an iOS and iPadOS app developed and published by Temmy ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at hello@pataan.app.
What we collect, and what we don't
PATAAN is designed to store your data locally and privately. Here is the full picture:
- Screenshots and images: stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your private iCloud database. We never receive, access, or process them on any server.
- Photos you import: you pick each image yourself with Apple's photo picker. PATAAN never gets access to the rest of your photo library.
- App names you type: stored locally and synced via your private iCloud. Not transmitted to us.
- Auto-generated tags and metadata: produced on-device using on-device machine learning. Never sent to us or any third party.
- Purchase and subscription records: handled entirely by Apple. We receive only a receipt confirmation from Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not see your payment details.
- Anonymous usage analytics: privacy-preserving product-interaction events (app launches, onboarding completion or skip, upgrade screen views, subscription events) collected via TelemetryDeck. Not linked to your identity and never including your screenshots or content. See "Analytics" below.
We do not collect: your screenshots or images, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, browsing history, or any personal information. The only data we gather is the anonymous usage analytics described below.
iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud for PATAAN, your library syncs across your devices using CloudKit, Apple's private database infrastructure. Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud database.
Analytics
PATAAN uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. It records anonymous product-interaction events such as app launches, onboarding completion or skip, when the upgrade screen is shown or closed (and which feature opened it), and subscription events (for example, which plan was purchased). These signals are not linked to your identity, contain none of your screenshots or personal content, and are never used to track you across other apps or companies. Along with each event, TelemetryDeck receives basic technical details (app version, iOS version, device model, and language) and a random, anonymized identifier that lets us count unique installs without knowing who you are. TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for details.
On-device processing
All screen-type detection, tag generation, and metadata inference run locally on your device using Apple Intelligence (where your device supports it) and Apple's Vision framework. No image or screenshot is ever uploaded to our servers or any third-party server for processing.
When you name an app, PATAAN looks up its icon and App Store category through Apple's public App Store search. Only the app name you typed is sent to Apple, never your screenshots.
In-App Purchases and subscriptions
PATAAN offers a free tier and a Pro subscription at $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Subscription management, billing, and cancellation are handled in your Apple ID settings.
Third-party services
PATAAN uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, privacy-preserving product analytics (see "Analytics" above). Aside from TelemetryDeck, the only third-party services involved are Apple's iCloud (for sync) and Apple's App Store (for purchases), both governed by Apple's own privacy policy. We integrate no advertising or data-broker SDKs.
Children's privacy
PATAAN is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and deletion
Because we do not hold your data on our servers, deleting PATAAN from your device removes all locally stored data. If iCloud sync is enabled, you can delete the PATAAN data from iCloud in your device's iCloud settings. We retain nothing on our end to delete.
Your rights
Because PATAAN does not collect personal data on our servers, there is no profile of you held by us to access, correct, or delete. For data held in iCloud, Apple provides the controls in your Apple ID settings at privacy.apple.com.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
